Triaminic voluntarily withdrew its two infant cough and cold products in October 2007. This voluntary withdrawal, which was part of an industry-wide initiative, was taken as a precautionary measure to avoid potential misuse of these products, including unintentional overdose, in children under the age of two.

The two Triaminic products that were voluntarily withdrawn were: Triaminic® Infant & Toddler Thin Strips® Decongestant and Triaminic® Infant & Toddler Thin Strips® Decongestant Plus Cough. If you have either of these products, please return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) offered its strong support for this action and recommended against the use of OTC cough and cold medicines in children under the age of two.

The makers of Triaminic are committed to the safety of our consumers and we support this FDA recommendation.

  • Be aware of the different ingredients in combination cough and cold products.
  • Don't give more than one cough and cold product to your child at a time, without first consulting your pharmacist or doctor.
  • To ensure appropriate dosing, keep track of the time and amount of each dose you give your child.
  • Always keep all medicines out of the reach of children and know the telephone number of your local poison control center in the event that accidental ingestion of a medicine by a child does occur.
  • If you are ever unsure about the appropriate use of a medicine for your child, consult your doctor.
